About Tastebud Guides

Picture
"A field guide is a book designed to help the reader identify wildlife (plants or animals) or other objects of natural occurrence (e.g. minerals). It is generally designed to be brought into the 'field' or local area where such objects exist to help distinguish between similar objects. ... It will typically include a description of the objects covered, together with paintings or photographs and an index. ... [T]he publicly-accessible field guide is more often a browsable picture guide organized by family, color, shape, location or other descriptors." [source Wikipedia; emphasis added]

About the  FOunder

Picture
Name: Jen Reiher
Title: Chief Food Nerd
Hometown: Victoria, BC

LIKES
africanos, tuna sashmi, chai, spicy food, & herbacious spirits

DISLIKES
bread, rum, over-cooked bacon & fishy tasting things

Facilitator by day, Food Nerd by night, Jen Reiher has been roaming the streets of Victoria seeking out the best the 'Garden City' has to offer for the better part of a decade. Although initially unconvinced she had anything to add to the Victoria food scene, a productive year of food blogging and micro-blogging changed her mind. An active member of the Victoria blogger community, Jen also sits on the board for the Vancouver Island & Gulf Islands Slow Food convivium.

Tastebud Guides grew out of Jen's frustration with the limitations of blog format and a recognition that there are few monetization strategies for restaurant bloggers that didn't include ad sales to restaurants. She is quite excited to see the Tastebud platform develop and help guide fantastic food to the people who love it.
